3G or 4G is there a difference?

Lot's of companies claim to have fast 4G speeds, but is 4G faster than 3G or is it all a bluff?.

To begin with the "g" stands for generation. Meaning that 4G is a fourth generation phone while 3G is just a 3rd generation device. This does not mean that the phone can surf faster but that the phone is a newer generation model. The "g" signifies newer technology.

To be able to use your device overseas with another provider other than the one your purchased the device from, you must make sure the device is unlocked or sim free.  The best way to determine whether your device is unlocked is by either trying to use another sim card in your phone, or by contacting your provider directly. Below is a simple guide to each provider’s specifics:

WiFi vs 3G

Why would you use your smartphone when you travel? Seriously you can get free Wi-Fi virtually anywhere, right?

Sure, Wi-Fi is easy to find in the USA. You can get it anywhere you shop, most places that you stay, and even by searching for open Wi-Fi networks in residential areas. Despite the fact that most of people know that Wi-Fi is not truly enough for all over use, people still plan for it when they travel.

When using Wi-Fi only, you are not available when people need you. There is a myriad of VOIP options when trying to call back home over Wi-Fi but none of them are anywhere close to good. The majority of them still have issues with calls cutting out, quality being unsatisfactory, and electronic sounds when speaking.

Frequently Answered Questions

To our potential customers:

We look forward to partnering with you to provide the convenience of our TelAway SIM. We would like to address some potential questions you may have regarding our product:

Dates-We offer trips for up to 10 days and up to 30 days. Please keep in mind that the service begins and ends at midnight, so the days must be counted inclusive.

Service-Mexico and Canada are not part of the US and the SIM will not work in those countries.

Compatibility: Please make sure your phone is unlocked internationally. Some great examples of phones that can be used with our service are iPhones 3-6 series, the Samsung Galaxy S2-6, Samsung Galaxy Note II-IV (NOT including the II version N7105), LG Nexus 5.

iPads/Tethering-We don't recommend you do this as we cannot technically support devices other than phones. As well, the 5 GB high speed data package will be used up more quickly when used as a mobile hotspot.

SIM size-There are currently 3 SIM card sizes, regular, micro, and nano. Please feel free to check the size your phone requires here.

5 TV Shows to Watch to Prepare Yourself for American Culture

1)      Friends is a classic TV show about the typical friendship structure amongst most Americans. Phoebe is your classic hippy, peace loving weirdo and is one of the funniest TV characters on TV. Ross is the usual nerdy guy who is desperately in love with the pretty girl. Joey is the typical jock who did not do well in school, and is an unemployed actor. Rachel is the pretty girl who had to start over after a broken engagement, and relies on her looks to move up in the world. Chandler has an extremely sarcastic sense of humor, but deep down is a very sensitive guy. And Monica used to be overweight in high school, and is an attractive up and coming chef. This is one of the great things about America that you can have 6 completely different people become best friends for a lifetime.
